Proverbs 31:21

The book of Proverbs gives us insights into so many different areas of life. The book gives us instruction on how to live our lives for God. Here is a proverb that gives us insight about the Godly woman:

Proverbs 31:21 (ESV)

She is not afraid of snow for her household,

for all her household are clothed in scarlet.

A Godly women, because she is Godly, is not afraid of the things God sends to the earth, like snow, because she has, with foreknowledge, prepared her family.  Notice what God told us earlier in this book through the pen of Solomon about preparedness:

Proverbs 6:6-8 (NASBStr)

Go to the ant, O sluggard,

Observe her ways and be wise,

 Which, having no chief,

Officer or ruler,

Prepares her food in the summer

And gathers her provision in the harvest,

The Godly women is like the ant and is never caught off guard.  Like the mother who tells the son to take a coat because it might get cold later, she looks ahead and sees danger.   The child is focused on the here and now ... warm and sunny ... but, the mother, the Godly mother, on the later.   She plans for the winter so the winter does not hurt her children.   The Godly mom not only sees danger ahead of time, she prepares for it.   Those who focus on today do things that hurt their families, not only today, but in the future.   She knows God is preparing the snow and therefore prepares for it.   Here is a women who lives in the fear of God so she knows God's works.   She doesn't stand by and curse the snow and what it does to her family.   She doesn't complain about the snow and what it does to her family.   She prepares for the snow.  Preparation is the mark of Godly behavior.   Joseph help Egypt prepare for famine.   Moses' father-in-law, Jethro, helped him prepare ahead of time for people who needed counsel.   God wants us to be prepared.  He gave us wisdom for such a time as that.
