Proverbs 3:19

The book of Proverbs gives us insights into so many different areas of life. The book gives us instruction on how to live our lives for God. Here is a proverb that gives us insight about God’s existence:

Proverbs 3:19 (ESV)

The LORD by wisdom founded the earth;

by understanding he established the heavens;

One of my favorite books is written by Lee Strobel, "The Case for a Creator."   Strobel sets out as a journalist to use his investigative skills to write a book about the existence of a Creator.   For the uninformed and lacking faith and needing evidence, the book is exceptional.  For the believer, who, by faith, holds true to the fact that God exists despite evidence man approves of, the above proverb is sufficient.   It is great to read about how the earth was created and how, if you have simple common sense, the evidence is overwhelming for a Creator.   Yet, the Scriptures are self authoritative.  They declare that God is who He says He is.  For those of faith, God's existence begins with the belief that He does and then evidence is only a confirmation of that belief.   Faith is the evidence (Hebrews 11:6).   Believers take the above proverb to be a declaration of God's sovereign rule and His eternal existence.  It is the only evidence we need.  As we look at the spectacular sunset or the back of our hand, we see the marvel of God and proof He is real.  But, those are the fruit from the tree of faith firmly planted in the ground of His Word and Promises.   God founded the earth.  We rejoice in that belief/fact!
