The book of Proverbs gives us insights into so many different areas of life. The book gives us instruction on how to live our lives for God. Here is a proverb that gives us insight about trust:
Proverbs 16:20 (ESV)
Whoever gives thought to the word will discover good,
and blessed is he who trusts in the LORD.
What guarantees do you have in life? Really, what do you know for sure? You can't actually count on anyone "fully." Just when you think you can they change, have a "moment," fail in someway. People just aren't dependable. You have to love them with all their faults. You have to factor in their faults to survive. You obviously can't count on your money. The value of money changes month to month. You can't count on political systems ... in fact you shouldn't count on them. You can't count on material things. They break, rust, fail and just plain get old and boring. So, what should you pay attention to and put all your trust in? Solomon, in this remarkable little proverb tells us. We are to give attention to God's Words ... the incredible promises and precepts that come out of His mouth. Even though we can trust other's words, we can trust THE Word. God has giving us all that we need for security, guidance, peace and hope in His Word. Even when we don't want to hear it, that is the time to hear it. God will open wonders and blessings for those who put their faith and trust in what He said. You can count on it. It's the one guarantee in life.
