Proverbs 8:5
O simple ones, learn prudence;
O fools, learn sense.
This is a cry to the naive (don't know what they don't know) and to the fool (don't do what they know to do). Both are asked to "understand." Understanding is a mental capacity in most of our minds, but in the Hebrew it carries a sense of having something in your mental capacity, "with" discernment. Wisdom is calling out to the naive and the fool to listen and to learn and to do so with discernment. Those who don't know and those who know, but with a disobedient attitude, need to listen and allow the learning to produce a sense of discernment. Fools don't listen with discernment. The navie don't know what they are listening to and can't recognize wisdom when they hear it. Adding a sense of prudence and wisdom will enable them to avoid any calamity they may face. It should be noted that Wisdom is calling out, even to the naive and the fool. The two of them can't complain they didn't get a chance. God calls out to all. Their lack of response is on them for not "discerning" what they are being told. They are foolishly deceived into thinking the path they are on will give them some safety and joy. Yet, it won’t. They foolishly don't learn and don't listen.
