Proverbs 12:3 (ESV)
No one is established by wickedness,
but the root of the righteous will never be moved.
What a great verse to base your life upon! It is important to establish your "basis" for life as soon as you can in life. If you establish your life on "wickedness" or "falsehood" you will have no basis. But, those who establish their life on rigtheousness of Christ and "root" yourself in His righteousness, you will never be moved. Moving is what happens when you have no sure foundation. In Matthew chapter seven we have the Sermon on the Mount spoken by Jesus. At the end of the chapter He tells us that everyone who "hears His words" will be like the man who builds a house on the rock. Those who don't like the foolish man who builds his house on the sand. This proverb is the same statement. Build on yourself and wickedness and you fail. Build on righteousness and you will never move. Build on self and you fail. Build on Christ and you succeed. The foundations we have in life are important to what we are able to build later. If we want to build a tall tower our to LEGO blocks, we know we have to start with a strong and firm foundation. Someone who wants to build a strong family, career, relationships and/or endeavors must do so on a firm foundation. If we do that on “wickedness” we will repeatedly fail.
