Proverbs 12:24 (ESV)
The hand of the diligent will rule,
while the slothful will be put to forced labor.
Proverbs gives us a wealth of information about our work life experience. As above, diligence is rewarded according to Solomon and slough is rejected. This may be one of the most obvious proverbs supported by the world system today. Our financial structure, our employment regiment and our reward system is all based upon the principle taught in the above proverb. Our society tends to reward meritocracy. Diligent people tend to hire and rule over those who are slack of hand. The slack of hand, no matter how much they complain, need the rules and structure of the diligent to make sure they complete the task ... therefore their labor is forced. Self-starters tend to rule over those who need a push. We are typically on one end or the other of this discussion. The political system in our country seems to promote and reward the slack hand while at the same time it seems to want to punish the diligent hand. The flesh and the demonic world seem to promote self indulgence and not self discipline and diligence. But, the truth above stands firm. You are either ruling or being ruled. Not much in-between.
