The book of Proverbs gives us insights into so many different areas of life. The book gives us instruction on how to live our lives for God. Here is a proverb that gives us insight into the path to walk:
Proverbs 21:16 (NASBStr)
A man who wanders from the way of understanding
Will rest in the assembly of the dead.
Proverbs 21:16 (AMP)
A man who wanders out of the way of understanding shall abide in the congregation of the spirits (of the dead).
Proverbs 21:16 (ESV)
One who wanders from the way of good sense
will rest in the assembly of the dead.
Wandering might be good for a Sunday afternoon ride that has no meaning, but for a way of life it can end up in a bad place. The road to Christ and the road of Christ is a tight road. It is a narrow road. The narrow road leads to life according to Jesus. However, the broad road, the one easy to find and the one easy to wander on to, leads to death and destruction. Many find the broad road. Few find the narrow road. According to Jesus a rich man has a difficult time to come to salvation. To be saved you have to recognize nothing else can save you. But the rich always think their finances can rescue them. Jesus said it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of the needle than for a rich man to be saved. So, you see Solomon's point above. It is easy to wander off the narrow path of understanding. Those who do wander will find themselves ending up in the assembly of the dead ... the way of death. God's Word gives us security and safety as we stay attached to it and follow its narrow path.
