Proverbs 8:9 (ESV)
They are all straight to him who understands,
and right to those who find knowledge.
Many people don't "get" God's Word. They read it and walk away with nothing. Many don't see it as relevant, much less truth and meaningful. They look it as a 4,000 year old document that is way past its significance. And, that is mostly "believers." We have so many believers who "never" cracked open The Book. The non-believing world doesn't even own a Bible. But, it is amazing how many people have multiple Bibles in their home and have never read it. God's Word elevates itself above rubies and riches. In this proverb Solomon is telling us that those who have "understanding" (that you get through faith in His Word) the Bible is "straightforward." We need to rejoice that God will reveal things to us through His Word. It is not a hidden message to those who seek His truth. His Word will seen "right" to those who find knowledge in it. The more we read it the more we should be comfortable with it. The more we embrace it and practice it the more we should be wiling to stand upon it. The Bible grows in strength for us the more we read it and believe it. God's Word does not come back void as we use it. If we neglect it we will not understand it. God's Word has a "use it or lose it" approach. It IS straightforward and right to those who want to read it and believe it.
