Proverbs 3:21

The book of Proverbs gives us insights into so many different areas of life. The book gives us instruction on how to live our lives for God. Here is a proverb that gives us insight about keeping sound wisdom:

Proverbs 3:21 (ESV)
My son, do not lose sight of these—
keep sound wisdom and discretion,
Solomon knows the value of God's Word and the power of Wisdom to keep the person who follows it safe.   He so believes it is key to life that he takes time, again, to warn the listener ("My Son") to make sure that the Words of Wisdom don't ever leave his sight.  Solomon knows that when we see something we tend to follow it and obey it.  When we fail to see it than it leaves our mind.   We would say the same thing in the the opposite way today, "out of sight out of mind."  To further define what he means by not letting wisdom "vanish" from your sight, he adds the second line, "keep sound wisdom and discretion."  In today's society it would take a teen ager, or even adult, a lot to leave home without their phone.  The phone has become the connection to the world and to their "social" connections.   To stay connected you have to have your phone.   Eight-year-olds have phones.   So, Solomon is telling us, if we want to be successful in life and have a life God can bless, we have to keep God's Word and Wisdom in our possession and in the fore-front of our mind.  God doesn't bless us because we obey.   But, because we obey and follow the Wisdom He gives; He can bless us.  Blessing is a result of His grace and favor to us.
