Proverbs 14:27

Proverbs 14:27 (NASBStr)
The fear of the Lord is a fountain of life,
That one may avoid the snares of death.

Imagine taking a drink of a beverage and having everything you need.   Imagine, even more, someone advertising such a drink: You turn on your television or radio and you hear that if you take a sip of a certain drink you get amazing results!   Would you buy such a drink?  Do you think the government would allow such an offer to be made over the airwaves?   Of course, that happens all the time.   We hear such offers for drink products every day.   The alcohol industry makes claims both explicitly and implicitly that something in a bottle will provide something we need.   Yet, we know those claims are totally false and without merit.   However, in the above proverb makes such a claim: That a drink from a source can provide something you need and must have.   The Fear of The Lord IS a fountain of Life.     When we drink from such a source we have many benefits.   The second line of the proverb informs us of one of those great benefits.  When we drink of this Fountain we not only escape death (it is the fountain of LIFE), we also escape the SNARES of death.   That means we escape those things that lead us to death.  That is the reason Proverbs is written: To keep us from the snares of death.   Solomon is telling us that we will not only avoid death but the snares of death, as well.   Take a drink from the bottle God offers.   There are many things we hear about and are told that will bring us a promise.   But, we only get a real promise from God.  When we fear Him we are free from the snares of death.
