Proverbs 17:2 (ESV)
A servant who deals wisely will rule over a son who acts shamefully
and will share the inheritance as one of the brothers.
Position doesn't always produce ultimate privilege. In a modern society a son is to have the full benefits of a son. That was true in Solomon's day as well. He was the son of King David and had the benefits of sonship. Servants in Solomon's day were seldom, on any level, as those of the heir. There was a large gap between servants and masters in those day. For Solomon to write the above Proverb, through the ministry of the Holy Spirit, bears out the power of the verse. God rewards wisdom and will put a person of wisdom at a higher level of position, despite what their privilege may or may not be. Wisdom benefits those who seek Her. Wisdom will put you in the place of power to rule and the bless of blessing to receive. You may not have the golden spoon in your mouth and you shouldn't use your position as a reason not to succeed. But we fear the Lord and obtain God’s wisdom ,from above, it comes with social status and social blessings. Perhaps Joseph would be the best example of this. He enjoyed position, due to his wisdom, without the birthplace of privilege.
Genesis 41:37-40 (ESV)
This proposal pleased Pharaoh and all his servants. And Pharaoh said to his servants, “Can we find a man like this, in whom is the Spirit of God?” Then Pharaoh said to Joseph, “Since God has shown you all this, there is none so discerning and wise as you are. You shall be over my house, and all my people shall order themselves as you command. Only as regards the throne will I be greater than you.”
God rewards those who obtain His wisdom with position higher than the privileged.
