Proverbs 11:20 (NASBStr)
The perverse in heart are an abomination to the Lord,
But the blameless in their walk are His delight.
Proverbs 11:20 (ESV)
Those of crooked heart are an abomination to the LORD,
but those of blameless ways are his delight.
Husband, good husbands (those who are the icons for the perfect marriage) know what their wives like and don't like. They know things like favorite color's, show size, styles to avoid, and even her favorite season (if they are smart). They also know what to stay away from. They know the things that delight their wives and the things they hate. The only way to know this, however ... most of the time, is to observe and listen to her. This type of knowledge is often obtained by solving the enigma that surrounds women. They seldom tell you these things. You must search and explore to learn them. Thankfully, this is not true with God. He tells us plainly what he likes and what He hates. There are no secrets about it with God. There is no riddle to solve. In the above proverb we see that those who's heart are still controlled by sin are an abomination to Him. Those who, in the second line, have had their hearts washed by the love and redemption of God, He takes great delight in. When we put our faith in Christ we are declared blameless. God delights over that. Let's rejoice that God delights in believers. He loves His children like we love ours and delight in them. Those cleansed by Christ are His delight. We don’t have to guess, observe and/or wonder. God reveals Himself in Scripture. Proverbs is the unfolding of His Word to give us the perfect picture of how to love Him.
